Job summary

Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH) is pleased to offer an exceptional opportunity for a post-exam fellow seeking experience in advanced Head and Neck ablative surgery and reconstruction and complex multidisciplinary surgical care.

This fellowship is designed for candidates aiming to build consultant-level competencies in high-level Head and Neck practice within an established, high-performing regional centre.

About the Role

As the Head & Neck Fellow, you will gain extensive experience across the full range of ablative procedures, including:

Advanced and complex salvage Head & Neck cases

Close collaborative working with both ENT and Maxillofacial Consultants offers comprehensive exposure to reconstructive pathways and multidisciplinary care. During the fellowship, you will be supported to manage patients across the full clinical pathway--from initial presentation and MDT discussion, through surgery, into the postoperative and follow-up phases.

About the Department

QVH is a leading regional Head & Neck unit operating a successful hub-and-spoke model serving a significant population across the South East.The department includes:

16 OMFS ConsultantsA high volume of weekly theatre lists dedicated to Head & Neck, thyroid, and parathyroid casesA fully equipped maxillofacial laboratory, including in-house 3D planning and wafer construction

The fellow will be an integral part of the clinical team, attending theatre, being part of the oncall team both evening and weekend to gain amazing trauma experience, general and specialty clinics, MDT meetings, and consultant-led sessions.

If suitably experienced, you may also contribute to teaching junior staff and deliver departmental education sessions.

You will additionally be encouraged and supported to:

Undertake audit and clinical governancePublish research using QVH's extensive clinico-pathological datasetsParticipate in ongoing departmental projects and service improvement initiatives

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MBBS/MDS or equivalent medical degree and BDS or dental degree equivalent Successful completion of FDSRCS or equivalent at time of application Eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council and General Dental Council at the time of appointment and with a current licence to practice CCT or Equivalent.
