Are you a GP looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity within a warm, values-led practice?

Cornerstone Practice and Healthcare is seeking an enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our team on a part-time basis. This post offers between 2 to 6 sessions per week, with Friday as a fixed working day - making it an ideal opportunity for a GP seeking flexibility alongside other professional or personal commitments. This post also includes one extended access evening clinic per week, on a weekday to be agreed.

You will be part of a well-established clinical team dedicated to delivering excellent whole-person care to our diverse patient population in Blackburn. Full support from our experienced clinical and administrative staff is guaranteed.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deliver high quality primary care as part of our well-established multidisciplinary team, working Fridays plus other week days including extended access evening clinics.

Key duties include:

Job description Job responsibilities

To provide primary and continuing medical care for patients in the community, taking account of physical, emotional and social factors when diagnosing illnesses and recommending the required treatment. To work within a team alongside other care providers to discuss the best care options for patients and encourage patients to take responsibility for their own health.

The Practice has a commitment to excellent whole-person care of our patients. We continually seek quality improvement and learning. It is expected that all our GPs are actively committed to supporting these aims and participate in relevant activities when appropriate.

This is a part-time post comprising 2 to 6 sessions per week. Friday is a fixed working day. The post holder will also be required to work extended access clinical session on a weekday to be agreed. Remaining sessions will be arranged in agreement with the successful candidate.

Clinical Duties

Provide General/Personal Medical Services to the patients of Cornerstone Practice and HealthcareUndertake face-to-face and telephone consultation, managing a varied and rewarding caseloadParticipate in extended access evening clinics as requiredConduct home visits for patients unable to attend the surgeryCheck and sign repeat and acute prescription requestsAssess and manage patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsAdmit or refer patients to other care providers in line with local procedures and pathwaysScreen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnessComplete administrative duties promptly, including correspondence and patient record codingCover for absent colleagues and support the wider clinical teams as requiredContinuous Learning and Development

Engage with all mandatory training including Safeguarding, Life Support and Information GovernanceFully engage with the appraisal process, both internally and externallyRemain up to date with GMC registration and Performers List Validation, notifying the Practice Manager of any risks at the earliest opportunityCommunication

Communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the PracticeLiaise with Integrated Care Teams, community services, hospitals and other agencies to ensure appropriate patient careCommunicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising their needs for alternative methods of communicationDemonstrate sensitive communication styles to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment.Organisation and Quality

Each standard clinical sessions contains 12 appointments of 15 minutes each, comprising a mixture of advance-booked and same-date, remote and face-to-face appointments. Additional emergency appointments may occasionally be required but will not normally rise above 3 per surgery. GPs may be required to contribute to clinical triage support via the Care Navigation Hub on a pro-rata basis. All GPs are expected to contribute to the on-call rota for late home visits and urgent queries, allocated fairly on a pro-rata basis.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Good clinical knowledge and sound decision making skills Good communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal Good organisation and time management skills Ability to work independently without supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team Computer literate, particularly with Microsoft office Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines Sound interpersonal skills-tact and diplomacy

Desirable

Minimum 2 years of General Practice experience Ability to use persuasive skills regarding sensitive issues Experience of audit and quality improvement

Qualifications Essential

Full GMC registrations with a license to practise Inclusion on the NHS Performers list Qualified GP - MRCGP or equivalent

Desirable

Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to primary care Certificated in minor surgery and or joint injections
