An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about working with children, young people and families to join West Norfolk Child Family and Young People service (CFYP), based at Thurlow House, Kings Lynn.

Psychology input is highly valued within the teams, and we utilise a formulation-based approach in our work with young people and their families. You would be joining a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Psychological Therapists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Assistant Practitioners. We offer a wide range of therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic Family Therapy, Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

The CFYP services in West Norfolk provide specialist mental health interventions to young people up to 25 in the West Norfolk area. Currently the CFYP services in West Norfolk are divided into an under 14 CAMHS service and a 14-25 Youth service, although this is now changing in 2026-27 to an under-18s CAMHS service and a 18-25 YAMHS service. It is anticipated this post will remain across both services following this change.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking highly motivated candidates who are enthusiastic about making a difference to children and young people's mental health through evidence-based interventions based on NICE Guideline recommended treatment.

The post holder will work with children and young people within our CAMHS service (0-14) and Youth service (14-25).

Within this role you will be:

o Providing specialist assessment, formulation and intervention for young people (0-25)

o Offering clinical supervision and training to members of the multi-disciplinary team

o Offering supervision and supporting the development of Assistant Psychologists / Trainee Clinical Psychologists

o Providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups

o Supporting audit, research and service evaluation

o Leading on projects for service improvement

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Experience Essential

Experience working as a qualified clinical psychologist (Band 7) and able to evidence appropriate knowledge and experience in practice to enable the post holder to clinically supervise trainee clinical psychologist

Desirable

Experience of clinical work in a setting relevant to the post

Skills Essential

Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management. Able to effectively communicate technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other professionals, within and outside NHS.

Knowledge Desirable

Well-developed knowledge of theory and practice of specialised psychological intervention and assessment in specialist clinical settings and service user groups
