At The Myton Hospices, we provide specialist care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, and their loved ones, from the point of diagnosis to end of life. We are a much-loved and well supported charity, at the heart of our community. We have three hospices, a range of community services, and 26 charity shops in Coventry and Warwickshire.
About the role
Join our team in a new, fixed-term role, providing operational leadership for three of our community support services (Telephone Support, Compassionate Neighbours, and Support Hubs).
These services offer non-clinical support in peoples homes, over the phone, or in our Support Hubs, where they can be listened to and directed to the most appropriate support.
This is an on-site role working 28 hours per week, over a minimum of four days, across our three hospices in Warwick, Coventry and Rugby. You will also be driving within the local area to carry out assessment visits. It will be a fixed term contract for 12 months.

We are looking for a Community Support Services Manager with:
Experience in social care, healthcare administration or community development Experience of managing people (both staff members and volunteers) Level 4 diploma or equivalent, in Health and Social Care Empathy, strong communication and organisational skills UK driving licence and own vehicle (roadworthy and suitably insured) The right to work in the UK (we cannot provide sponsorship)As this role requires travel, you must be able to travel within Coventry and Warwickshire.
This role will require an enhanced DBS check because you will be managing people in an adult healthcare service. We will arrange and cover the cost of this check if you are offered the role.

By moving away from a medical model, and adopting a Compassionate Communities methodology, Myton's aim is to engage with local people and communities to increase our presence and visibility and foster a more inclusive approach to service delivery.
The Community Support Services Manager will engage local people to form a network of Compassionate Neighbours, providing social and emotional support to people living with or caring for someone with a life-limiting illness, recently bereaved, or experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
The postholder will deliver high-quality, inclusive service, assessing service user needs, managing referrals, matching volunteers, monitoring outcomes, and promoting safeguarding.
They will provide a single point of oversight and operational direction / leadership, for the Telephone Support service and the Support Hubs.
With a team of trained, specialist volunteers, the Community Support Services Manager will provide a non-clinical support offer, either in the person's home, over the telephone, or individuals dropping into one of the three Support Hubs, where they can be listened to and directed to the most appropriate offer of support.
The role also involves building strong community links, to expand the services' reach and impact.
To comply with the Myton Values and reflect these in day-to-day work (One Myton, Professional, Respect, and Value).To lead on the delivery of the assigned support service strands, with support from the Patient & Carer Wellbeing Service.To lead the Compassionate Neighbours and Support Hub programmes, including the recruitment, training, supervision and development of volunteers.Working closely with the Head of Volunteering, to oversee the recruitment of all Compassionate Neighbours, Telephone Support, and Support Hub volunteers, ensuring all appropriate onboarding checks are carried out (e.g. references, DBS).Agree plans and delivery of outreach to recruit new Community Support volunteers where necessary.Deliver training to specialist volunteer roles, to ensure they are confident and equipped to carry out their roles and identify when more support might be needed by a service user.To ensure a robust escalation plan is in place for volunteers, including clear instructions on who to call out of hours should the need arise.To work closely with the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to ensure all risk assessments are undertaken and regularly reviewed as appropriate.To develop and deliver ongoing support, training and supervision for all volunteers through regular meetings and social events, and provide an opportunity for peer support/reflective practice and networking.To work with the clinical teams, local health and social care professionals, and the wider local community, to drive referrals to these services.To draw on existing community connections to introduce them as potential Volunteers, Community Members, or funders.To organise meetings to which local leaders and their members are invited, to learn more about Myton's offer.To process referrals of Community Members, including carrying out needs and suitability assessment visits in their homes.To match Compassionate Neighbours with Community Members and attend an introductory visit to ensure the match starts well and lays the foundation for a successful partnership.To act as a first point of contact for Volunteers and Community Members should any problems arise.To work closely with the Community Fundraising Manager to arrange and attend community events, promoting these services and encouraging connections.To work closely with the Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Lead to provide timely and accurate information in support of any funding opportunities.To collect and collate data regarding the number of people who give or receive support and qualitative feedback on the Community Support interactions.To be responsible for ensuring personal data of volunteers is accurately collected, collated and stored on the Volunteer Management System.To deliver Community Connector training both internally and externally, and actively seek opportunities for funding to support the delivery of external sessions.To be responsible for income and expenditure, monitoring against budget and managing adjustments in activity accordingly.To provide day to day management / leadership and support to the lead volunteers, ensuring regular contact and supervision is provided.To work with the Marketing and Communications team to prepare web-based and hard-copy information to promote the Myton Community Support offers.To supply the Marketing and Communications team with stories and information for the local media about the work of the Compassionate Neighbours.To participate in local, regional and national networks relevant to this role.To have a good understanding of and to comply with all relevant Myton policies, procedures and guidelines.To undertake and keep up to date all mandatory training or e-learning required for this role.
