About this role

Job summary

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic, forward thinking Trust Obstetrician & Gynaecologist (middle grade) with an interest in advanced Antenatal care/maternal medicine. The post will be based at Worthing Hospital.

The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic middle grade resident doctor team providing general and specialised Obstetrics and Gynaecology services to the local population of West Sussex. The middle grade rota is supported by established consultants and members of the multidisciplinary team with a variety of specialised clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

The primary responsibility of the post holder is to provide support in general and specialised Antenatal clinics, with a potential to expand skills in Obstetric Ultrasound scanning and pre-term birth clinics. In addition, the candidate will be expected to provide daytime middle grade rota (Gynaecology clinics/ theatres / urgent clinics) cover from time to time.

The successful candidate will have on-call commitments working one night shift a week and weekend days on call as per the middle grade rolling rota.

The post holder is expected to:

Person Specification

Experience/ Qualifications Essential

oBasic medical degree oMRCOG Part 1 oFull GMC Registration with a licence to practice oAdvanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent oEvidence of achievement of competencies appropriate at ST1 and ST2 in this specialty supported by evidence from work-based assessments

Desirable

oAdditional related qualifications, e.g. intercalated degree, BSc, BA, BMedSci or equivalent

Clinical Skills and Experience Essential

oCompletion of the RCOG Basic Practical Skills course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by time of appointment. No other equivalent qualification will be accepted (this includes RCS Basic Surgical skills courses) oEvidence of achievement of Foundation competences form a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standard/Good Medical Practice At least 24 months experience in medicine or an ACCS programme or equivalent (not including Foundation modules) oAt least 24 months' experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (not including Foundation modules) by time of appointment oNot have previously relinquished or been released/removed from an Obstetrics and Gynaecology programme, except under exceptional circumstances
