Job summary
Specialist Dietitian (Medical) Band 6 (37.5 hours per week), flexible working considered, permanent. This post is based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital with cover to the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch as required.
Due to internal promotion we have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team in this newly created role. This post will help to provide dietetic services to the acute medical inpatient wards.
This post would be ideal for a dietitian who would enjoy a varied caseload of differing complexity, whilst also supporting junior members of staff and developing leadership skills.
We are a forward thinking and proactive Dietetic department of 22 dietitians working within specialty teams.

Main duties of the job
This post holder is a key member of the acute dietetic team, working closely with the wider dietetic team.
The clinical caseload will include a variety of medical conditions on inpatient wards across the Trust including respiratory, infectious diseases, vascular, cardiology, general medicine, frailty, and trauma and orthopaedics.
This role will provide day to day support to junior members of staff.

Job Purpose:
To manage a caseload of patients using specialist evidence-based and/or patient centred principles with a variety range of medical conditions on acute inpatient wards and outpatient clinic.
To provide day to day support and supervision to junior colleagues at Worcestershire Royal Hospital working in conjunction with the Team Lead Dietitian.
To complete audits and service improvement work to improve nutritional care for inpatients.
To provide support and supervision to students on practice placements, by providing input on the development of their timetable, continued education and signing off of competencies with informative feedback.
To maintain the service and prioritise the clinical caseload at Worcestershire Royal Hospital when the team lead is off site.
To work across site at Alexandra Hospital when demand requires.
Job Summary:
Working as an experienced autonomous practitioner, to provide a high standard of patient focused care through specialised assessment.
To plan and deliver a high quality service to patients working in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
To participate in student training, supervision and assessing students.
To contribute to the Therapy Clinical Governance agenda to further improve the quality of the service.
To assist with the day to day planning co-ordination, monitoring, evaluation and delivery of the dietetic service.
Dimensions:
To provide dietetic assessment and intervention to patients referred to the Department. To deliver a cohesive and effective service provision to in-patients and out-patients referred to Department. To provide cross specialty cover during staff absences to maintain a dietetic service provision; this may require travelling to other hospital sites.

Experience Essential
Evidence of working as a Dietitian with clinical experience in the NHS. Able to demonstrate a high level of expertise within a wide range of clinical dietetics in acute hospitals. Experienced in all aspects of adult nutrition support, sip feeds and enteral feeds. Experience of implementing evidence based practice for continuous service improvement.
Desirable
Experience of supporting junior staff. Experience of working in an MDT setting.
Qualifications Essential
Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent qualifications in Dietetics. Registered Dietitian recognised by the HCPC.
Desirable
Member of the British Dietetic Association.
