About this role

Job summary

Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, our rural GP practice serves a close-knit community spread across some of the most beautiful countryside in England. We're looking for a Dispensary Assistant to join our small, friendly team and if you're someone who finds meaning in genuinely knowing the patients you help, this could be the role you've been waiting for.

Unlike a busy high-street pharmacy, dispensing in a rural practice is personal. You'll get to know your patients by name, understand their needs, and play a direct role in keeping our community healthy and well-supported. It's hands-on, varied work from accurately dispensing prescriptions and managing stock to advising patients and working closely with our clinical team.

This is a role where you really matter. In a rural setting, the dispensary isn't just a service it's a lifeline for many of our patients, and the person behind the counter makes all the difference. If you're organised, compassionate, and looking for a rewarding role with real community impact (and a stunning commute), we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

Day to day, you'll be dispensing repeat and acute prescriptions accurately and safely, checking and managing stock levels, and processing prescription requests both paper and electronic. You'll be a familiar, trusted face for patients collecting their medication, handling queries with care and knowing when to refer to a pharmacist or clinician.

You'll also support the smooth running of the dispensary through accurate record-keeping, handling controlled drugs in line with regulations, and helping with ordering and deliveries. No two days are quite the same and in a small rural practice, you'll naturally chip in wherever you're needed.

About us

We're a small, independent dispensing practice proud to serve our rural community across the Peaks. Our team is tight-knit by nature. Patients know us, trust us, and rely on us, and that shapes everything about how we work.

The atmosphere here is supportive and genuinely collaborative. Everyone pulls together, looks out for one another, and takes pride in the care we provide.

Working here, you can expect:

NHS Pension Funded enrolment on the Buttercups Level 2 Dispensing qualification Enhanced maternity pay A stable, permanent role in a welcoming rural setting Ongoing training and development opportunities Free on-site parking A real sense of purpose this is healthcare with a human face

Whether you're already working in dispensing or looking to build a career in a healthcare setting, we invest in our people for the long term.
