Job summary
The Countess of Brecknock Hospice are seeking a Band 6 Deputy Sister to join our amazing team and fantastic modern hospice in the heart of Hampshire!
This role is a clinic based role, for 12 months initially with the hope to extend this long term, running form the inpatient unit. This role is key to supporting palliative outpatients, enabling the optimal care of our patients and contributes to the success of our Trust.
The delivery of a high quality, effective and compassionate care is paramount within HHFT.

Main duties of the job
Supporting the Clinical Matron, Lead CNS and Sister/Charge Nurse team in the delivery of an outpatient infusion service within the inpatient team, running from The Countess of Brecknock Hospice.
This will include blood transfusion, iron infusions, care of PICC lines.
Ensuring high standards of Professional Practice to ensure quality and safety of patient care, patient experience and the patient journey
Delivering specialised clinical practice, knowledge, skills and experience
Effective leadership
Undertaking the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation where factors may be conflicting, requiring high level analysis and interpretation skills and the comparison of a range of options to achieve effective treatment.

Training and Qualifications Essential
Professional UK registration NMC 2/3 years post registration Ability to work and lead within a multidisciplinary team across an organisation Experience of mentorship of junior colleagues/students Experience in administering blood and iron transfusion Venepuncture and cannulation skills IV therapy trained Central line experience including PICC's
Desirable
Degree or working towards degree in relevant field Knowledge and skills gained through alternative study Evidence of CPD in palliative care History taking and physical assessment Palliative care experience Experience in day case environment

Clinical skills appropriate to Palliative care demonstrate the required behaviour in keeping with trust value good communication skills Previous experience within hospice setting
