This is a Split Shift, Weekend shift position, working Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as 12 hour days weekend mornings 6am to 6pm. Position Summary This Weekend Split Shift team member will be an experienced engineer with a background in materials science to oversee the hermetic laser welding process. The ideal candidate will have experience controlling welding or casting processes, with specific experience with aluminum, titanium, and kovar. They will be responsible for everything from laser safety and beam control to product optimization and performance monitoring. Responsibilities Laser Welding & Hermetic Sealing: Perform precision laser welding to create hermetic seals on components, ensuring all seals meet strict vacuum and leak-rate specifications. Environmental Stress Testing: Execute environmental stress screening (ESS), including thermal cycling and vibration testing, to validate the integrity of the seals and the durability of the components. Precision De-lidding: Perform machine de-lidding operations to access internal components for inspection, rework, or failure analysis without damaging the substrate. Process Adherence: Strictly follow written process instructions, engineering drawings, and quality checklists to ensure consistency and compliance with aerospace and defense standards. Equipment Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate laser welding stations and environmental test chambers; perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on machinery. Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections and utilize measurement tools to verify weld quality and seal integrity, documenting all results in the manufacturing execution system.
