Fernville Surgery is looking to welcome a new General Practitioner to our friendly, forward-thinking team in the heart of Hemel Hempstead.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated GP to join us for 5 to 7 sessions per week, with Mondays and Tuesday (AM) essential.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care through a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. The role includes routine and urgent care appointments, participation in duty doctor and triage sessions, and the opportunity to develop continuity of care through your own patient list.

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team and contribute to clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of practice services. Experience in minor surgery would be welcomed but is not essential.

Saturday sessions are required on a pro-rata basis, up to 7 sessions annually, and are remunerated separately

Job description Job responsibilities

Participate in duty doctor and triage responsibilities, managing same-day and urgent patient demand.Hold and manage a personal patient list, providing continuity of care where appropriate.Provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care services to the practice population. Undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations as appropriate.Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in line with current clinical guidelines.Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records at all times. Participate in practice clinical meetings and multidisciplinary team working.Contribute to safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults.Support the training and development of GP trainees and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of practice services.Participate in Saturday sessions on a pro-rata basis, remunerated separately.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Fully qualified General Practitioner with current registration on the GMC GP Register. Licensed to practice in the UK. Inclusion on a Medical Performers List or eligibility for inclusion. Experience of working within UK General Practice. Ability to manage a broad range of clinical presentations across all age groups. Excellent consultation, communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and time-management abilities. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to clinical governance, patient safety and continuous professional development. Competent use of clinical IT systems and electronic patient records. Availability to work Mondays and Tuesday (AM).

Desirable

Experience of minor surgery. Experience of using EMIS Web. Previous involvement in GP training or medical education. Experience in quality improvement projects, audit or service development. Interest in elderly care, long-term condition management or another specialist clinical area relevant to primary care. Experience working in a training practice.
