Job summary
We are looking for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to support the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines within the practice. Working closely with GPs, pharmacists, nurses, and administrative staff, you will help optimise patient care and contribute to medicines management activities. The Post Holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medication to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.
Main duties of the job
Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice policies. Respond to medication-related queries from patients and healthcare professionals. Conduct medication reviews and medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge. Maintain accurate patient medication records using SystmOne clinical system. Support medication optimisation initiatives. Assist with clinical audits relating to prescribing and medicines management. Monitor prescribing safety alerts and ensure appropriate action is taken. Assist with cost-effective prescribing and formulary compliance.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience working in Primary Care, community or hospital pharmacy. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Strong IT skills and ability to work with electronic patient record systems. Understanding of medicines optimisation principles.
Desirable
Previous experience working within a GP Practice or Primary Care Network (PCN). Knowledge of SystmOne GP clinical systems. Experience conducting medication reviews.
Qualifications Essential
Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). PCPEP qualified, NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
