Job summary About the Roles

The London Borough of Enfield (LBE) is seeking to appoint two visionary and technically skilled Consultants in Public Health to join our dedicated team. Reporting directly to the Director of Public Health, they will play a pivotal role in driving population health transformation and tackling health inequalities for those who live, work, and play in our borough.

Enfield's Public Health team is a lead agency for local health improvement, working closely with partners like the North Middlesex University Hospital, the Royal Free, and the Enfield Health and Wellbeing Board to deliver evidence-based strategies that address the broad determinants of health.

Main duties of the job Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Provide specialist public health advice to the Council, NHS partners, and the Integrated Care System (ICS) to ensure evidence-led commissioning and policy development. Health Intelligence: Lead on gathering and interpreting complex health data to assess population needs and evaluate the impact of local interventions. Health Improvement & Protection: Oversee a diverse portfolio that may include health protection, chronic disease prevention, or tackling health inequalities in underserved communities. Collaborative Working: Build strong relationships with senior clinicians, managers, and elected members to advocate for "health in all policies". Change Agent: Manage complex projects and budgets to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services that improve long-term health outcomes.

Salary: Grade HOS3 (£86,100 – £104,097) Location: Enfield, London (Mixed hybrid / in person working with office base at the Civic Centre) Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Flexible working options available)

About the Roles

Eligibility for application

In line with legislation, inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List or inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists at the point of application. If included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List in a specialty other than public health medicine/dental public health, candidates must have equivalent training and/or appropriate experience of public health practice Any public health speciality registrar applicants who are currently on the UK public health training programme and not yet on either the GMC, GDC or UKPHR specialist register must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they are within 6 months of gaining entry to a register at the date of interview* If an applicant is UK trained in Public Health, they must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. If an applicant is non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT

Education:

A Master's in Public Health or equivalent is desirable, alongside a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent evidence for non-UK trained applicants. Skills: Proven leadership in a political environment, high intellectual rigour, and the ability to influence without direct authority. Experience: Demonstrable success in delivering change management programmes across organisational boundaries and managing departmental budgets.
