PHYSIOTHERAPIST BAND 6 EQUIVALENT

About Cygnet Newham House

Cygnet Newham House is a modern, purpose-built 20-bed neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility based in Middlesbrough, providing specialist rehabilitation for women affected by acquired brain injuries (ABI). We are proud to be one of a kind a clinically-led, evidence-based service with a therapeutic and recovery-focused ethos at its heart.

Our person-centred interdisciplinary team puts each individual at the centre of their treatment and discharge planning, helping women maximise their independence and return to community living. We work with some of the most complex and fascinating presentations in neuropsychiatric rehabilitation including ABI, Huntington's Disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, Korsakoff's syndrome, and associated mental health conditions.

We are delight ed to have recently been rated 'Outstanding' in Well-Led by the Care Quality Commission (April 2026), rated 'Outstanding' by the national brain injury charity Headway (January 2026), and recognised for excellence in the first national Quality Network for Neuro Services (QN-Neuro) report. The Role

This is a part-time physiotherapy post working 2 days per week (0.4 FTE), with some flexibility around how those days are arranged, provided the needs of our patients are met. The post is graded at Band 6 equivalent, with the maximum salary in cash terms available for the right candidate.

We are open to receiving applications from:

Experienced Band 6 physiotherapists seeking a 2-day specialist post Newly qualified Band 5 physiotherapists with the drive and potential to develop in a specialist neuropsychiatric setting (a competitive salary and/or adjusted hours may be offered for the right candidate)

What You'll Be Doing

Working within a rich interdisciplinary team, you will:

Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and treatment interventions for women with ABI and complex neuropsychiatric presentations Work alongside Neuropsychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses and Support Workers Use creativity and clinical expertise to engage a challenging patient group and achieve meaningful functional outcomes Contribute to the full MDT process including admission planning, case reviews and discharge planning Support and contribute to the ongoing development of physiotherapy within the service

Newham House features a gym, dedicated therapy rooms, a therapy kitchen, sensory room, salon, and beautiful outdoor garden spaces. All rooms are en-suite, and our catering team meets specific dietary needs it's a facility built to support both patients and staff in doing their best work.

The service line spans Cygnet's neuropsychiatric services across the regions, giving you access to a broad network of professional expertise, peer support and continued development opportunities.

Requirements

Degree in Physiotherapy and current HCPC registration Experience in neurological, neuropsychiatric or relevant rehabilitation setting desirable (but not essent ial for the right candidate) Commitment to patient-centred, evidence-based practice Enhanced DBS check and reference check required prior to commencement
