Job summary
At Ipswich Hospital we are seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner for our East Theatres team.
East Theatres offers surgery for adult and paediatric patients undergoing orthopaedic elective and trauma procedures. We comprise of 4 operating theatres, 2 for trauma and 2 for spinal surgery.

You will need to be an Anaesthetic Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner.
Please note, there are two positions available at 37.5 hours per week and 18.75 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
As a senior theatre practitioner, you will be key member of the multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high standards of perioperative clinical practice and individualised patient care by demonstrating an advanced standard of clinical skills underpinned by theory. You will manage both elective Orthopaedics and Trauma and act up in the absence of the Clinical Lead, therefore you will have strong leadership skills and act as a role model.
In this role, you will assist the clinical lead in improving service provision within the suite, through auditing, benchmarking and risk management. You will also promote the development of the perioperative role, identifying, implementing and evaluating new ways of working and delivery of patient care and clinically effective guidelines.
This post also involves teaching, coaching and mentoring students, junior and support staff and therefore you will hold a relevant mentorship qualification.

Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse Adult/ODP Experience in mentoring staff Valid ALS provider certificate, or willing to undertake
Desirable
Post registration course in, Post Anaesthetic Recovery or Critical Care/High dependency care. Degree or equivalent experience A recognised leadership/management qualification
Experience Essential
Proven significant experience, CCU/ Recovery course within critical care/post-operative Recovery environment. Evidence of team building, leadership and first line management Experience in successful change management Ability to assess and manage risks Experience of teaching and responding to learners' individual needs
Desirable
Evidence of undertaking research and audit Evidence of promotion of acute or High Dependency nursing
Knowledge Essential
Evidence of expert clinical practice in acute and/or critical care nursing using evidence-based practice to inform and support patient care Ability to analyse and interpret clinical data and be pro-active in the management of acutely ill, deteriorating, and complex post-operative patients. Understand current issues and practices within the POCU setting
Skills Essential
