As Intellectual Property Counsel, you’ll support teams across Vanta on a range of interdisciplinary IP and product issues as Vanta rapidly scales.

This role will be a part of Vanta’s Product, Privacy, and IP Legal team, and will counsel Engineering, Product, Marketing, and other teams on everything from patents to technology partnerships to product compliance, as well as foster innovation by strategically growing Vanta’s intellectual property portfolio. Given Vanta’s pace of growth, you’ll have ample opportunity to apply and develop your skillset here, and this is a great chance to work on a wide variety of legal issues.

What you’ll do as an Intellectual Property Counsel at Vanta:

Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to strategically manage and grow Vanta’s patent portfolio, working with outside counsel

Counsel product teams on new feature development and release, including advising on IP as well as other general compliance issues related to SaaS products

Provide guidance to Legal and other teams on in-bound licensed intellectual property

Partner with Vanta’s rapidly growing marketing team to protect Vanta’s trademarks, and support them on product and corporate marketing efforts

Advise other legal and cross-functional teams on matters regarding Vanta’s IP strategy

Work on Vanta’s IP and domain name portfolio management and enforcement

Expand or gain experience in privacy program management

Support the Legal team on other Product, Privacy, and IP initiatives as needed (or based on interest)

How to be successful in this role:

JD from an accredited law school and U.S.-qualified

4+ years of combined experience at a law firm counseling high-growth SaaS/tech companies on IP matters and/or working in-house at a SaaS company as an IP counsel

Experience in one or more of the following areas: patent portfolio management and enforcement, trademarks, IP-focused product counseling and support

Ability to manage, organize, and complete multiple tasks and priorities and work effectively across organizational and functional lines

Business oriented and pragmatic, with the ability to breakdown legal concepts in plain language to non-lawyers

Exemplary client management skills, instilling confidence and building trust with team members across all organizational levels

Display outstanding judgment, flexibility, and analytical ability to proactively identify, prioritize, and resolve issues

Curiosity about AI tools and technologies, with a drive to learn more about and use them to enhance how we support our business partners
