This is an exciting opportunity for Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) to join our Mental Health Services Team (MHST) working with schools across Sefton.

The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team either in the North, South, Central or specialist team. They will act as case managers for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems and deliver evidence-based interventions alongside or under supervision of senior practitioners.

Main duties of the job

Working as a member of an integrated multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive assessment of children, young people and families. Planning, implementing and evaluating interventions to address identified needs. To work alongside partner agencies to offer Whole School Approach (WSA) Acting as case manager for children and young peoplewith mild to moderate mental health problems. Delivering evidence-based interventions in a group format alongside or under supervision of senior` practitioners. Monitoring risk and supporting children and young people who present with more severe problems to rapidly access assessment and intervention from senior practitioners. Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people. Adhering to Trust policies and procedures and the legislative framework in which children's mental health care is delivered.

About us

Alder Hey MHST is part of the Education Mental Health Team within the Liverpool CAMHS; and North and South Sefton Partnership. MHST covers both Liverpool and Sefton and currently has links with around 200 schools. Liverpool MHST comprises 5 teams, North, Central, South along with a Transitions Team. Sefton MHST has four teams North, South and Central (with a focus on transition) along with the new Wave 11 team focusing on LD support across the three MDTs.

This will be paid in two parts, £250 in first month pay on commencement in post, and £750 on completion of six months.

Accommodation

Alder Hey will support the cost of accommodation for up to 3 months from the date of employment (up to £500 per month)

The cost is to be paid by the staff member and reclaimed as expenses.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Experience and Training Essential

Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Health Practice for Children and Young People (EMHP Qualification) BABCP and or BPS registration and accreditation

Desirable

Training in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or within a Psychological Therapy. Psychology or other Health related undergraduate degree.

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of mental health issues in young people. Knowledge of legislation and National policies in relation to mental health issues in young people. Low Intensity Interventions for low mood, worry/ anxiety Understanding how difficulties can be maintained by the wider system and family. Working Knowledge of the Whole School Approach to mental health Knowledge of children and young people gained through academic study in child development, child wellbeing or mental health. An understanding of mild to moderate mental health difficulties. An understanding of mental health in community settings An understanding of The Mental Health Act/Mental Capacity Act. Understanding how difficulties can be maintained by the wider system and family An understanding of Safeguarding responsibilities and the importance of multi-agency working for children and families in the community. Understanding of CYP-IAPT Principles including the use of Routine Outcome Measures

Desirable

Knowledge of the functional operation of specialist mental health services Knowledge of the school's safeguarding procedures and who the Designated Safeguarding Lead, (DSL), is in each establishment that they work in.

Personal Attribute Essential

Willing to perform all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies. Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced DBS disclosure. Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs.
