You will help provide a high standard of care to patients under going surgical procedures, assisting in the department work load and delivering a quality service in a professional manner.

Main duties of the job

To work in all areas within or associated in the department on a rotational basis To carry out assigned duties within the Operating Department involving the direct care of patients, as required in support of the Registered Health Care Professional. To carry out delegated specific and unsupervised duties in support of the Operating Department, including general housekeeping duties as required. To assist with the preparation of the area for the operating schedule, including equipment checks where appropriate. To support and assist the Registered Health Care Professional during surgical, anaesthetic and recovery procedures. To assist in the preparation and disposal of instruments and equipment and general housekeeping of the stores and theatre environment. To assist in maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors, reporting any untoward incidents, accidents or potential hazards to the nurse in charge. To help in the transportation of patients, equipment, goods and instruments to and from the operating theatres/wards/other departments. To ensure that specimens are transported in a timely, efficient and safe manner to the laboratory. To contribute to effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team. To contribute to the quality of patient care during surgical, anaesthetic and recovery procedures, in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure.

To participate in all duty rotas i.e. night shift/late shift/early shift/weekend/bank holidays. To perform any other duties as delegated by Registered Health Care Professionals, which are deemed to come within the scope of this post.
