We are looking for a Band 3 Health Care Assistant to join our friendly Integrated Vaccination Service. This is a varied and rewarding role combining patient-facing care with administrative and coordination responsibilities to support safe, efficient and equitable vaccination delivery across Dorset.

We are a pan-Dorset team working across locations including Blandford, Boscombe, Wareham, Weymouth, Swanage and Portland. We deliver perinatal, seasonal and newborn BCG vaccination programmes, alongside outreach clinics designed to improve access for underserved communities.

Main duties of the job

This role forms an integral part of vaccination delivery across Dorset, supporting clinics for adults and children, including perinatal and BCG clinics. Alongside clinical support, the post holder will play a key role in administration, patient coordination and data management, ensuring smooth, efficient and safe clinic delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting the planning and coordination of perinatal and BCG clinics

Working with the Access and Inequalities Lead to support pop-up clinics in community settings

Managing patient contacts, conversations and appointment queries

Booking appointments and supporting clinic organisation

Accurate data entry, record keeping and information management

Supporting vaccine storage, cold chain and clinic logistics

Working collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary team

The post holder will receive regular supervision and be encouraged to develop skills within a service that values learning, reflection and continuous improvement.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.

Person Specification

BUSINESS TRAVEL Essential

Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business. (working within the Community)

PERSONAL QUALITIES/ATTRIBUTES Essential

Good skills in attentive listening, reinforced by personal qualities of being genuine, non-judgemental and respectful. Ability to prioritise.

JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE Essential

Ability to work on own initiative, but with a commitment to participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice and further develop skills. Good IT skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

Community/Hospital experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING Essential

Willing and able to apply existing experience and gain necessary skills to work effectively in the community, hospitals or other community settings, equivalent to a vocational level 3 qualification Willing to professionally develop and undertake further development / training as identified to meet the needs of the service, including Trust Band 3 Extended Skills programme and Care Certificate.
