Job summary

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Senior People Development Trainer to play a key role in the delivery and evolution of leadership and management development across Sherwood Forest Hospitals.

This is a full-time post within a well-established and high-performing People Development function, supporting the Trust's strategic ambition to build a strong, inclusive and sustainable leadership pipeline. Leadership development at Sherwood is an essential-to-role requirement for managers, and this role is critical in ensuring we deliver high-quality, consistent and impactful development at scale.

You will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of leadership programmes for managers at all stages of their career, including emerging, established and medical leaders. You will bring significant experience in leadership and organisational development, with the ability to translate strategic priorities into high-impact learning solutions, alongside strong facilitation, coaching and influencing skills to support leaders in complex and fast-paced environments.

This role is central to improving leadership capability across the Trust, directly supporting staff engagement, retention and progression, and enabling consistent, high-quality leadership practice. Effective leadership is a key enabler of safe, high-quality patient care, and this post plays a critical role in strengthening organisational performance, resilience and workforce sustainability.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the end-to-end design, delivery and evaluation of leadership and development interventions that directly impact workforce capability and organisational performance.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the delivery of Trust-wide leadership programmes, including Emerging Leaders, Established Leaders and Medical Leadership development Designing, developing and continuously improving leadership and management training aligned to the Trust's People Strategy and Training Needs Analysis Acting as a subject matter expert in leadership and management development, supporting leaders to build capability in areas such as performance management, change leadership, and team effectiveness Providing coaching and mentoring to leaders at all levels to support professional development, service improvement and organisational change initiatives Supporting the development of a consistent leadership culture across the organisation, reducing variation in leadership practice and improving staff experience Working closely with key stakeholders across divisions to understand workforce challenges and co-design targeted development solutions In addition, you will support the day-to-day coordination and development of training activity, including contributing to team management and supporting the capability of other trainers within the team.

Knowledge Requirements Essential

Significant up to date knowledge of leadership and management and learning development training delivery, HR, change and talent management approaches and improvement techniques and methodologies In depth understanding and implementation of organisational change and development processes Knowledge of project management approaches and techniques Broad knowledge of HR processes such as appraisal, sickness absence, and capability and performance management IT literate with good knowledge of IT packages (Microsoft Office)

Desirable

Good understanding of NHS initiatives Service improvement and lean concepts and models Knowledge of psychometric and other assessment tools to aid personal and professional development

Qualifications Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience Level 5 or equivalent management qualification or relevant experience Training, Teaching or Facilitation qualification or equivalent experience Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

CIPD qualification Project management qualification Coaching qualification or relevant experience

Experience Essential

Significant experience of developing, planning, organising and delivering of training programmes Significant experience of designing, planning, developing and delivering change management and a broad range of HR people management and soft skills training courses using high level communication and presentation skills Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills To be innovative, with the ability to 'think differently' and challenge current behaviours and mindsets Experience of leading and managing a wide range of training courses Self- motivated, flexible 'can-do' team worker Resilient and able to challenge
