About this role
Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Salaried GP to join our large, friendly and forward-thinking practice in Oxford. This is a fixed-term maternity cover role based at Manor Surgery in Headington, ideally for 6 sessions per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays).
We have approximately 27,000 patients across two sites and a strong multidisciplinary team including Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses, HCAs and a proactive care team.
We operate a triage-first model designed to make workload manageable and efficient, with 15-minute appointments and a maximum of 12 appointments per session. We also have an established urgent care hub, daily team huddles and systems designed to support clinicians and reduce unnecessary pressure.
We are proud to be an innovative and high-achieving practice with a strong reputation for quality and patient care, rated Good across all areas by CQC and rated Outstanding for Equity in Access. We are also supportive of portfolio careers, flexible working and clinicians' wider interests, with opportunities to get involved in cross-city projects and service development.
If you are looking for a supportive, ambitious and genuinely enjoyable place to work, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care within a busy and varied general practice environment. The role involves managing a broad clinical caseload through a mix of consultations, making autonomous clinical decisions and working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.
You will work as part of a supportive and collaborative clinical team, contributing to shared decision-making and helping to develop services that meet the needs of our patient population. Alongside routine clinical work, there will be opportunities to become involved in a specific clinical interest area, quality improvement work and wider service development projects.
We are looking for someone who enjoys teamwork, is adaptable and patient-focused, and who is keen to contribute positively to practice life. You will be joining a practice that values innovation, learning and continuous improvement, where clinicians are encouraged to shape how we work and bring forward new ideas.
This role would suit someone looking for a supportive environment with a manageable workload, strong team culture and opportunities to develop wider interests alongside clinical practice.
