Job summary
As a Clinical Support Worker at the Hawthorn Recovery Unit, you will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, supporting service users to engage in meaningful activity that promotes recovery, independence and wellbeing. You will work closely with care coordinators, therapists, nurses and the Team Leader to provide high-quality, person-centred support within a safe and therapeutic environment.
Main duties of the job
You will plan, facilitate and co-deliver a range of individual and group activities, thoughtfully graded to meet the abilities, interests and needs of each service user, with the aim of encouraging participation, confidence and functional skills. The role also involves supporting day-to-day clinical care, effective communication within the team, and contributing to the smooth and safe running of the unit.

Job description Job responsibilities
Plan, facilitate and deliver individual and group activities, graded to meet service users abilities and needs Adapt activities to support participation for service users with physical, sensory, cognitive, emotional or communication difficulties Work in line with individual risk management plans when planning and delivering interventions Engage with service users, carers and family members in a respectful, supportive and welcoming manner, including orientation to the unit Support service users with mobility, personal care and daily needs when required Undertake delegated physical health monitoring tasks as directed by care coordinators or the Team Leader Maintain effective communication with service users and families, including telephone contact, triage calls and appointment reminders Accurately record observations, interventions and clinical progress notes Relay relevant information promptly and clearly to care coordinators and the wider MDT Support the smooth running of the unit, including assisting with meals and acting as a link with inpatient wards to welcome new referrals This is not an exhaustive list; please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information on the role requirements and duties.

Skills/Abilities Essential
Ability to plan and run groups and activities independently Excellent communication skills in person by phone or videocall Able to prioritise and problem solve within daily management of work Able to adapt own communication and approach to facilitate people experiencing hearing or sight impairment, cognitive changes or high anxiety Also to be sensitive to engage those whose first language is not English Good IT skills to include use of email, word and progress notes in patient electronic records

Specific activity skills eg cooking, exercise, art, gardening, discussion, cognitive stimulation, relaxation Skills in using patient electronic records to enter data and upload documents
Experience/Knowledge Essential
Experience of working in a role that requires people engagement Experience of working with older adults or in a mental health setting Experience of planning and running groups or activities
