Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist working at a consultant level to join our Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia team at MFT to join our team of cardiothoracic anesthetists and intensivists. This could be suited to a range of candidates including cardiothoracic anaesthetists, cardiac intensivists or those wishing to do both. Person specification will vary to the type of post you are seeking.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within the Greater Manchester tertiary cardio-thoracic service hosted at MFT, undertaking a very broad spectrum of clinical activity with the opportunity to become involved in quality improvement projects and audit/research.
Main duties of the job
The Directorate of Anaesthesia and Critical Care currently has opportunities to be part of the consultant team, based at the Wythenshawe site, with additional scope to work on other sites within the Trust.
The Division of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine consists of nearly 200 consultants and the scale of the service across a number of hospital sites provides significant subspecialisation and the opportunity to develop within a particular area of interest.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training Essential
MBChB or equivalent Postgraduate qualification or equivalent e.g. FRCA and/or FFICM Completion of higher training in Anaesthesia should be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. Teaching medical students Experience of Audit Teaching junior medical staff Publication in a peer reviewed journal, a demonstrable commitment to developing research in the Trust or a record of improving patient safety within previous organisations Full registration with the GMC (or eligible for full registration)
Desirable
Intermediate Accreditation in ICU Medicine TOE Accreditation Experience in major aortic surgery Experience of heart / lung transplant and mechanical support including VV ECMO Postgraduate Research Degree (MD/PhD or equivalent)
