Department: Cellular Pathology

Band 5

Hours: 37.5 hours a week (full-time) on a 12-Month Fixed Term Contract

All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

The Cellular Pathology department is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive individual to take up the post of Project and Analyst Support Officer in our professional and friendly team, on a 12-month fixed term contract.

The post-holder will be required to assist in the development, maintenance and performance of new and existing IT systems through a mix of ad hoc and project-based work. The department is currently upgrading the Cellular Pathology module of the LIMS. The successful candidate will be responsible for running user acceptance test scripts to ensure the new LIMS has been built according to the specifications detailed in the low-level design, along with regular manipulation of data in Excel. Therefore, experience of Cellular Pathology systems is desirable.

Suitable candidates must be educated to degree level or equivalent. The successful candidate will be a professional with strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively. The suitable candidate will work as part of a team of scientific and support staff to deliver a diagnostic service that meets accreditation & regulatory requirements to deliver effective patient care.

To provide support and assistance to the Pathology Systems Manager & QualitySupport Analyst in delivering an effective and timely pathology systems service, through a mix of ad-hoc and project-based work. The responsibilities of the post-holder will be diverse and dependent on the needs of the pathology department.

Job description Job responsibilities

The post-holder will be required to assist in the development, maintenance and performance of new and existing pathology systems. To complete configuration set up of PCN hubs in Milton Keynes and to produce regular progress reports for BLMK Transformation board

To be involved in the extraction, processing and validation of complex data from various data sources, including with large data sets, on a project and ad-hoc basis as required.

To develop and maintain a Pathology data warehouse

To ensure the existing data reporting processes are regularly reviewed to ensure timely and accurate reporting of data both internally and externally. To build connections from multiple data sources to PowerBI in order to produce interactive departmental dashboards

Provide training and support on newly developed features and work with end users on developing enhancements.

To resolve queries from service users.

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge Essential

Extensive knowledge of pathology systems i.e. WinPath Good understanding of pathology data sets Educated to degree level or equivalent

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Project management qualification

Experience Essential

Previous experience using NHS datasets to provide analytical information Experience of using pathology systems i.e. WinPath Experience using statistical software packages
