Job summary We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join the Urology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team in a pivotal role across the prostate and bladder cancer pathway. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, patient-centred care within a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

This post is fixed term for 12 months.

Main duties of the job The role requires an organised, proactive individual who is confident working independently and under supervision, and who is committed to maintaining the highest standards of care. The jobholder will carry continuing responsibility for a defined caseload, including the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The jobholder will provide highly specialised nursing advice and care to adults diagnosed with prostate and bladder cancers- Focussing particularly on Frailty and patient/staff education.

The job holder will contribute to the development of the speciality service in collaboration with the wider MDT as well as contributing to the strategic direction of nursing within the Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a dynamic, motivated and forward thinking Nurse to join the Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) service based at the Paul Sykes Centre.

This is a unique role for an experienced nurse with a passion for service development, innovation and improving outcomes for patients with prostate and bladder cancers. The post holder will work collaboratively with the CNS team, multidisciplinary colleagues and key stakeholders across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to support and deliver key service improvement projects aligned with national cancer strategies and local priorities.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving forward quality improvement initiatives such as frailty, enhancing patient pathways and supporting the ongoing development of the service- this will include staff and patient education. As well as identifying areas for improvement, implementing evidence-based changes, and evaluating outcomes to ensure high standards of patient-centred care. The individual will have excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills, alongside a strong clinical background in oncology or urology nursing. Experience in project work, staff and patient education, clinical pathways, audit, service improvement will be essential.

A key aspect of the role will be setting up new services and supporting the development and delivery of education for both patients and staff. This includes contributing to structured teaching programmes, developing patient information resources, and promoting best practice across the multidisciplinary team to enhance knowledge and consistency of care within urology services.

Set up new services- Development of service Maintain a safe, effective clinical environment that promotes high standards of patient care. Act on own initiative within defined competency boundaries to achieve planned outcomes. Practice in accordance with Trust policies, guidelines, professional standards, and statutory requirements. Work flexibly across ward, clinical department, or community settings as required. Comply with PPE requirements appropriate to the clinical setting, including prolonged use of face masks where necessary.
