This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA. DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. LOCATION OF WORK: 632 W 6th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501 Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps. Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40. To be considered for employment, candidates must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances. Example of Duties Under general supervision, performs professional engineering or surveying tasks for parks and recreation engineering projects. Responsibilities include planning, designing, constructing, inspecting, and maintaining parks, recreational facilities, and related engineering projects. Prepare contracts, inspect complex construction projects, and advise on major problems of construction. Uses independent judgment and initiative to apply standard engineering or surveying principles, make calculations, and implement minor design changes as needed to ensure a project proceeds according to scope, budget, and schedule. Responds to concerns or complaints from the public regarding park related, drainage, site, or water quality concerns. Performs other duties as assigned.
