We have several opportunities for enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Trainee PWPs) to join our expanding Talking Therapies service operating across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will provide Low Intensity CBT-based interventions whilst undertaking the Post-Graduate Certificate delivered by the University of Exeter commencing on 8th September 2026. This training post will equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence-based treatment to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, for which CBT interventions are demonstrated to be clinically effective.

You will be joining a motivated team of mental health professionals and experienced supervisors who will support you to complete both your academic study and your clinical delivery.

This is a fixed term role for 12 months.

The Role

This is a fixed term role for 12 months.

After completing the training and becoming a qualified PWP, there may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent post and contribute to an experienced and innovative service.

The role typically comprises 3 days per week undertaking clinical practice with the service and 2 days per week attending university. University days will be hybrid training of a combination of remote and face-to-face teaching in a Bristol based location.

Work with the service will likely include remote working but attendance at one of the BNSSG offices will be required at least twice a week.

Getting to know you

Essential:

For postgraduate programme: Undergraduate degree or evidence of previous successful study at Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 6 At least one years working experience in settings with high exposure to people with mental health difficulties which can include voluntary work IT literate intermediate level minimum Flexibility and be able to provide out of hours appointments as required by service needs (one late shift of 12-8pm required on Mondays or Tuesdays) Evidence of interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients Evidence of an openness to learning new knowledge and skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusionDesirable:

Please note:

Following shortlisting w/c 15th June, shortlisted applicants must be available to attend interviews held w/c 29th June 2026. All interviews will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams. Interviews will be conducted joint with the university and include a presentation, the content of which will be given in advance. Applicants must be available to commence the role w/c 31st August 2026 for an onsite induction with Vita Health Group. All essential equipment will be provided. Applicants must be available to attend all university days on a weekly basis from the 8th September 2026. A Disclosure and Barring check (DBS, formerly CRB) will be required by the service for appointment to post. Applicants who have completed an NHS-funded psychological professions training programme within the last two years are not eligible to apply. Only those with the right to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status can be recruited.
