Job summary
The Clinical Lead for the Psychosis Pathway is a senior clinician responsible for providing day-to-day clinical leadership across adult community mental health psychosis services. The postholder will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care to service users and their families, while supporting staff development and driving continuous service improvement.
The role involves leading clinical decision-making, overseeing the delivery of evidence-based interventions, and maintaining strong multidisciplinary and partnership working to improve outcomes for people experiencing psychosis.
Main duties of the job
Provide clinical leadership and direction across the psychosis pathway Support and develop staff through clinical supervision, guidance, and training Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based (NICE concordant) interventions Lead on clinical decision-making, including complex case discussions and care planning Oversee risk assessments, safety planning, and safeguarding practices Coordinate care to ensure timely, safe, and effective service delivery Work collaboratively with service users, families, and partner organisations Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance Maintain high standards of clinical record-keeping and compliance with policies

Provide clinical leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team, supporting high-quality, evidence-based care for people experiencing psychosis. Lead clinical discussions, oversee assessment, care planning, and risk management, and ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act, safeguarding, and Trust policies.
Coordinate and prioritise care delivery, support staff development, and contribute to recruitment, performance management, and team effectiveness. Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping and governance.
Contribute to service development by supporting quality improvement, reviewing pathways and protocols, monitoring outcomes, and engaging with service users, carers, and partners.
Act as a role model, promoting professional standards, continuous improvement, and collaborative team working, while maintaining own professional development.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications Essential
Relevant professional qualification (RMN, OT, Social Worker, Psychologist), educated to degree, masters level or have other relevant experience. Qualification/advanced practice in delivery of evidence-based intervention for people with psychosis.
Experience Essential
Significant experience of and demonstrable achievement in clinical practice in variable settings including working with people with psychosis. Experience of providing professional support/supervision and development of staff Experience of leading MDT's.
Desirable
Understanding of Health and Social Care Governance. Experience of delivery of evidence based clinical interventions for people with psychosis
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of the key policies driving work with adults in need of mental health services and rehabilitation. Ability to provide and receive complex and emotive information with staff, service users, carers and other stakeholders.
Desirable
Ability to effectively deal with aggression when required. Ability to present service information and service development clearly.
