Job summary
This post, without on-call commitment, offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated anaesthetist to join a dynamic pain team delivering multidisciplinary acute care across Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will be provided structured clinical training in Pain management under direct supervision during the initial training period.
The post holder will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the pain service. This post is not recognised for training by the Deanery but equivalence of training can be negotiated with the Regional Advisor for Pain Medicine in the future.
Subject to the provisions of the terms and conditions of service he/she must observe agreed policies on clinical matters and should follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Hospital.
In the management of employees of the Trust, he/she will be expected to follow legislation laid down in this respect.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will work with the Pain team to obtain structured supervised training in various aspects of pain medicine (Acute, Chronic and Cancer Pain) initially and also provide anaesthetic services.
Applicants must be eligible for limited registration for non-training posts. Once the initial supervised training in pain medicine is completed (duration of training varies depending on the prior pain experience of the applicant), he/she will be able to work under distant supervision.

Specialist Regional Services
We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
