Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for facilitating the safe and effective delivery of neonatal Hepatitis B vaccination programme activity in a specified locality, within the homes of eligible babies.
About us
Vaccination UK has been commissioned by NHS England since 2015 to provide school aged immunisations, including Influenza, to pupils across numerous counties across England and all boroughs of North London.
We are also commissioned by NHS England in North London to provide outbreak response in the event of a vaccine preventable disease outbreak, and we provide the infant BCG programme to newborns in North London.

Job description Job responsibilities
Undertake home visits to assess and vaccinate eligible babies at the age of 4 weeks and 12 months old within a locality according to the Pathway and obtain the dried blood spot (DBS) test ( at 12 months old).
Advise parents accordingly on pre-requisites of giving Hepatitis B immunisation and contra-indications,
Contribute to the identification and protection of children at risk of abuse and act in accordance with the local Safeguarding Childrens Board guidelines.
Maintain statutory & mandatory training records (BLS, Anaphylaxis and Immunisation).
Provide support, mentorship, guidance and supervision to junior staff members
Promote and facilitate collaborative working effectively with parents, carers and families of eligible children and with all stakeholders to provide a coordinated service for the community.
Maintain legible, contemporaneous records, safeguarding confidentiality
Comply with all relevant regulations organisational and national guidance and VUK policy documents
Participate in clinical governance activities in accordance with VUK policies and procedures for best practice.
Provide advice and support (including signposting where appropriate) on other missed or overdue childhood vaccinations for any eligible baby on the Pathway.
Escalate issues, risks / clinical incidents to management which arise i.e. contract compliance, service delivery and client safety.
Undertake other duties commensurate with the level of this position

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
RN (NMC registered) adult or child branch, live on NMC register Evidence of continuous personal and professional development Car driver with use of a car or the ability to travel between locations with equipment.
Experience Essential
Experience of working in a community setting and/or working with children & young people Experience of paediatric immunisation and medicines management
Knowledge & Skills Essential
Practical knowledge of: National and Local policy relating to Neonatal Hepatitis B immunisation programme PGD Child protection procedures Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults Immunisation Green Book NHS routine childhood schedule Cold chain procedures and medicines management storage and carriage instructions for immunisations Effective communication skills with children and adults Attend the homes of eligible children as a Lone Worker Good team player but able to work autonomously Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B.
