Job summary

Our purpose at Health Innovation West of England is to transform lives through innovation. We work in partnership with our local systems and stakeholders, to develop a rich pipeline of useful, evidence-based innovation and to support adoption and spread of proven innovation across the systems we serve.

The primary function of the Evaluation and Insights team is to advise on and deliver real-world evaluation of innovations to understand their impact on patients, staff and the health economy.

The key responsibility of the Senior Research Evaluator (mixed-methods) is to deliver mixed-methods evaluations that demonstrate the impact of innovation on systems, staff and patient experience and outcomes.

This will involve a range of evaluation and analytical activities for complex, high-profile projects and programmes. The work will include; rapid evidence syntheses; quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis and report writing.

This is a fixed-term role for 12-months.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver real-world evaluations which demonstrate the impact of innovation on systems, staff and patient experience and outcomes. These will often be mixed-methods and will require the collection and analysis of qualitative (e.g interviews, focus groups) and quantitative data (e.g. surveys, routinely collected data), and use of descriptive analysis and inferential statistics.

Key responsibilities include:o Working with programme teams to manage the delivery of evaluation activities on time and to budget.o Designing and developing patient and staff information leaflets and consent forms, logic models, surveys, topic guides, data collection templates, and outcomes frameworks.o Using tools such as MS Excel or IBM SPSS to analyse and report on survey and routine data, and specialist qualitative software like NVivo for thematic analysis and Zoho survey for collection of online questionnaire data.o Producing high quality documents and reports as required using a range of MS Office products (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).o Managing the dissemination of analytics and evaluation knowledge in relevant forums and media, working with our communication team and collaborating with our partner community across academic, NHS and other stakeholders.o Providing guidance, advice and support to HIWE (and/or ICS partners) on evaluation tools, principles and techniques.

Experience Essential

Educated to Masters level or appropriate professional qualification or equivalent experience

Delivery experience of insights, analytics and evaluation activity in health or social care, or wider life sciences/ education/ academic setting.

Experience and evidence of working in partnership with NHS or social care organisations at all levels and successfully engaging with multi-disciplinary and / or multi-agency teams to achieve successful outcomes.

Ability to identify, plan and deliver a suitable methodological design for process and impact evaluations in collaboration with a supervisor, including the development of logic models and evaluation protocols.
