Job Description The OSP Telecom Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing outside plant telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cable systems. This role supports aerial, underground, and buried network construction activities while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications, customer standards, and industry best practices. Responsibilities Install, splice, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cable systems. Perform aerial and underground outside plant construction support. Read and interpret blueprints, splice diagrams, work prints, maps, and job specifications. Install and maintain handholes, pedestals, cabinets, terminals, closures, and related OSP equipment. Perform fiber testing using OTDR, power meters, light sources, and related test equipment. Identify and resolve service issues, cable faults, signal loss, and damaged infrastructure. Maintain accurate records of completed work, test results, redlines, materials used, and field changes. Operate and maintain basic telecom tools, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment. Follow safety standards, traffic control procedures, OSHA requirements, and company policies. Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, customers, inspectors, and other field crews. Support emergency restoration work as needed, including after-hours or weekend response. Ensure all work areas are left clean, safe, and compliant with customer and regulatory requirements.
