The opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Medicine and Surgery team at Stepping Hill Hospital.

Main duties of the job
We are a proactive, friendly, and welcoming team comprising Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Technical Instructors, and Therapy Assistants, covering a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, including:
Intensive Care High Dependency Surgery Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, including pre-operative involvement Gastroenterology Acute Respiratory Cardiology Endocrinology Complex Medicine Elderly Medicine Outpatient Respiratory Clinic The successful candidate will gain valuable experience across all of these areas, with opportunities to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and progress within a supportive team environment.
Access to own car with a valid driver's license in order to travel across the locality of Stockport for emergency on call (or suitable alternative transport arrangements).

Education & Qualifications Essential
Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy Evidence of relevant continual professional development
Knowledge Essential
Independently selects and utilises standardised assessments relevant to acute care, demonstrating clinical reasoning in their application and using results effectively to prioritise and justify physiotherapy interventions Demonstrates sound knowledge of appropriate therapy outcome measures for specific acute medical and surgical conditions, using them to evaluate patient progress and inform ongoing management Knowledge of relevant clinical Guidelines, current research and recommended practice Knowledge of intermediate care and community/support services Experience of complex discharge planning Experience of managing a busy caseload without direct supervision and supporting patient flow on acute medical/surgical wards
Experience Essential
Independently manages a caseload including patients with complex long-term conditions and specialty-specific presentations, demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning and the ability to prioritise and adapt care appropriately Provides effective supervision, teaching, and appraisals of junior staff, therapy support workers, and students, contributing to their learning and safe clinical practice. Previous experience of respiratory on call Substantial experience in hospital covering various rotations including, medicine, ICU, surgery, Neuro Experience of clinical governance including audit and risk
