2026 is the year of Leadership at UHB and we are proud to invest and recognise the importance and value of the therapies services across our four hospitals.

Our communities are rich in diversity and present with a range of complex gastroenterological conditions - to that end we are thrilled to announce this opportunity for candidates with specialist interest in gastroenterology and nutrition support.

Within our Gastroenterology and Nutrition Support team you will work as a member of the Therapies Respiratory cluster and Gastroenterology and Nutrition Support team providing dietetic support for gastroenterology and nutritional support services across the Trust sites, working with the multidisciplinary gastro teams.

You will share the team's passion in improving care, quality and the overall experience whilst making a difference to the people who access our services. In return, you can expect to join like-minded people who deliver unequivocal excellence in all aspects of their role and who want to make a difference to the communities we live and work in.

As one of the largest foundation Trusts we can provide more challenge and more opportunities to ensure your career is always moving in the right direction.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of the multidisciplinary gastroenterology team across the Trust, providing a Dietetic service to inpatients and outpatients. You will accurately assess patients' clinical needs in a holistic manner using specialised knowledge and skills and a broad range of nutritional assessment skills, measurements and techniques.

Success in this role will see you provide dietetic advice and support to patients and their careers, taking into account ethical, cultural, religious, socio-economic and educational needs. You will liaise and communicate effectively with other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding inpatients and outpatients, advising and negotiating with the team to ensure optimal dietetic care for all patients.

You will develop and distribute appropriate evidence based dietary literature for gastroenterology patients and carers and participate in the implementation of service developments in dietetic gastroenterology and nutritional support services. You will supervise and actively participate in the training of student dietitians, student nurses and wider clinical teams.

We are committed to your personal and career development. We have a strong focus on quality improvement and service development, and we look forward to working with you to develop dietetic provision across gastroenterology services.
