Job summary
We are currently looking for a 3-session salaried GP to join us in our well-established, welcoming surgery in based in a modern medical centre in Chesham.
The role will include:
- 12-minute appointments , with a mix of face-to-face and telephone
- Allocated administration work (blood results, letters, prescriptions). Dedicated time is provided for this, and the burden is light due to an active pharmacy and administrative team
- Low visit frequency

Main duties of the job
The role is for 3 sessions per week, days/times to be decided, and the salary will depend upon experience.
We are excited to be looking for an additional member to join our team to GP's. Ideally, you will have experience of working as a GP in a general surgery setting.

The New Surgery is a welcoming and friendly practice, well known locally for providing excellent care through a traditional family-doctor service to approximately 11,000 patients. We have an excellent reputation locally for being accessible and for offering first-class patient care. Our culture is based on supportive teamwork.
Our team consists of six GP partners, complemented by a strong nursing team, advanced clinical practitioner, pharmacist, pharmacy technician, physiotherapist, social prescriber, in-house phlebotomy, and a dedicated administrative and reception team. We have a close relationship with our wider MDT (district nurses, palliative care team) and look after residential and nursing care homes.
We are a training practice and are excited to welcome a Registrar to our team from August 2026.
The New Surgery is sited within the Chess Medical Centre, with ample parking and easy access.
We use EMIS Web, AccuRx and Docman10 in our clinical work.

The following are the main duties of the Salaried GP:
The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines
Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
Effective management of long-term conditions
To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care
Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways
Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
-Qualified GP with full GMC registration -Eligible to work as a GP in the UK -On the NHSE GP performers list
Desirable
- understanding/appreciation of the NHS landscape and the relationship between individual organisations, PCNs and commissioners - understanding and knowledge of QoF and enhanced services
