Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cancer Services team at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire as a Senior Admin Officer for our Cancer Referrals Team. The Senior Admin officer is an essential part of the patients Cancer pathway as you will responsible for booking their 1st initial urgent suspected cancer appointment.
We are looking for an individual to join our team who is organised, has attention to detail, good inter-personal and communication skills, and is enthusiastic and proactive in their approach to work.
This role is crucial in the booking within 0-7 days and management of all patients referrals who are on suspected cancer pathways within the relevant disease site. The post-holder must be able to work independently and follow the policies and procedures for the department. The post-holder will be expected to use their own initiative and keep their line manager and senior colleagues informed.
This is a role with lots of variety and ad hoc demands and the post-holder must possess excellent time management and planning skills.

Main duties of the job
To assist with the implementation and maintain an efficient office management system/procedures to enable the Department to optimize their standards of service. Deal with all telephone calls relating to the outpatient appointment system, ensuring all calls are dealt with in a polite, pleasant and professional manner. Book all Two Week Wait appointments according to the Patient Access Policy ensuring that all appointments are made using Direct and Partial booking systems and within waiting time targets. Maintain high quality standards by ensuring that the data entered onto Trust systems is accurate, complete and up to date. Systems include iPM, E-Referrals, CRRS and Openscape. Obtain confidential information from patients or their relatives and record this on the hospital's computerised system.

Supporting team members within department which will require undertaking appropriate training to provide cross-cover on a reciprocal basis in the absence of colleagues and providing day to day supervision where required. Ensure that your work area and equipment and left in good working condition on a daily basis. Ensure that all Trust wide standards are maintained and monitored to improve the quality and total care to all who come in contact with services provided by University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust. Comply with the principles of risk management including health and safety legislation, promoting high standards and acting immediately on hazards or unsafe practices in conjunction with other staff.
