Join Our Front-of-House Radiotherapy Team in the Dyson Cancer Centre

We have an exciting opportunity for a friendly, organised and compassionate Receptionist to join our fantastic team in Radiotherapy, part of the the Dyson Cancer Centre at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.

As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for those attending consultations or treatment within the Radiotherapy Department. Your professionalism and kindness will help ensure every patient feels valued and reassured during what can often be an anxious time.

Main duties of the job

In this varied, patient-facing role, you will help ensure our clinics run smoothly and that every patient receives a welcoming and supportive experience. Your responsibilities will include:

Greeting patients and relatives in a warm, professional and courteous manner. Handling telephone enquiries, taking messages accurately and responding helpfully. Maintaining patient records on the patient administration system, including registering referrals and updating clinic statuses. Booking new and follow-up outpatient appointments, and ensuring patients receive appointment details in good time. Rebooking or rescheduling appointments for follow-up patients as directed by senior Radiotherapy staff. Monitoring and actioning the department's generic email inbox, ensuring timely and appropriate responses. Arranging interpreters when required to support clear, inclusive communication. Working closely with Therapeutic Radiographers and other colleagues to deliver a seamless and high-quality service for patients. Adhering to national waiting time targets when managing patient bookings and clinic schedules. Carrying out a range of clerical duties, including photocopying, filing referrals and letters, sorting post and distributing patient information materials. Providing administrative support at both the reception desk and in the radiotherapy bookings office, and undertaking additional tasks as requested by senior Radiotherapy staff.

Qualifications Essential

Qualification at GCSE level or equivalent

Desirable

Knowledge in the Cerner Millennium patient administration system Experience and knowledge of office and administrative processes

Previous admin/ reception experience Experience in a busy working environment Experience in working with the public Ability to work in a team

Desirable

Previous experience with cancer patients Able to take minutes for meetings
