Basic Requirement for Training Specialist (Medical): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes verifying medical training credentials, coordinating or leading medical training, and utilizing database to maintain training records for customers or staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Training and Development, Health Administration, Emergency Management or Medical Education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Major DutiesInstruct or coordinate Life Support, Tactical Combat Causality Care (TCCC), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training programs for the Military Treatment Facility staff.Document training requirements in accordance with regulations for customers or Military Treatment Facility staff.Maintain training database to track customer performance and compliance for medical training.Conduct lesson reviews checking for training accuracy using appropriate regulations.Instruct medical trainers to ensure currency and compliance with regulatory requirements.Purchase training material or equipment using Government Purchase Card (GPC) for Military Treatment Facility courses.
