QualificationsGENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-2005-09 level, you must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training which demonstrates a thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstructing records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, or parts. Experience performing routine aspects of supply work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.
Major DutiesAs a GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST -Title 32, GS-2005-9, you will: Perform developmental assignments of moderately difficult and complex nature consisting of well-precedented tasks designed to orient the employee in the application of General Supply programs and activities. Recommend solutions or a course of action for problems not covered by instructions, policies, or accepted practices as a General Supply Specialist. Search technical literature, reports, and other reference material to locate information requested by senior personnel. Carry out special projects and participates in special initiatives and studies. Remain aware of emerging technologies and professional developments to stay current in the field. Prepare written correspondence and other documentation. Use software such as word processing, spreadsheets, program language, etc., to facilitate work.RequirementsMILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E-3 through E-6 Conditions of Employment: Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
