Job SummaryTHIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel, assigned to the 103d Airlift Wing of the Connecticut Air National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members, assigned to the 103d Airlift Wing of the Connecticut Air National Guard.

QualificationsGENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and to safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 18 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience or training operating, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting and overhauling fuel systems and components. Experience or training initiating and controlling the movement and storage of fuel supplies by operating high pressure systems with a series of terminals connected by cross-country pipelines or multi-fuel storage and distribution facilities connected by a network of internal pipelines. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to fuel depots or fuel farms. Knowledge of and skill in receiving, storing, transferring, issuing and testing of fuels. Knowledge of safety regulations and use of safety equipment. Ability to perform operator maintenance including inspection/minor repair of equipment. Knowledge of accountable documentation required to ensure audit trail of reciepts and issued products. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/AFSC. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Appointment): Enlisted: E-1 through E-6 UNIT OF ASSIGNEMENT: 103rd Airlift Wing or any subordinate Unit. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: You will be required to serve a 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Major DutiesPosition to be filled upon the vacancy of the incumbent. JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to manage fuel on behalf of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) which consists of operations and maintenance of a fuel distribution system that includes a fuels laboratory, cryogenic storage, bulk storage, base service station, fuels information service center, mobile fueling operations and the financial account management for missile propellants, aviation fuels, ground fuels and cryogenics utilized in support of aircraft, motor vehicles, engine test cells, powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE), generators and heating systems required to support the Wing mission and transient aircraft. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Organizes, administers and evaluates a segment of the fuels quality assurance program for the organization. Directs, inspects, operates and maintains a complete fuels distribution system(s) to receive, store, transfer and issue both aviation and ground fuels. Operates one or more types of special purpose design aviation and ground fuel tank truck vehicles having a capacity of up to 6,000 gallons and gross vehicle weight of 70,000 pounds used for fueling/defueling various types of aircraft and ground fuels applications such as AGE, power production, heating and engine test cells. Operates, inspects and performs all required maintenance and repair on 400-5,000 gallon cryogenic storage tanks. Ensures responsibilities for product compliance inspections of all petroleum activities. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, to include inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps and work-stands in temperature and humidity extremes. Work areas may be drafty, noisy, and have toxic fumes present. Irritants such as aircraft fluids, dirt, grease, dust, paint and solvent may be present. Exposure to cuts, burns, strains, and broken bones exists.
