Job SummaryThis NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH) position, is located in Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST), Special Staff, and Office of the State Surgeon and is part of the CA JFHQ Safety. This Vacancy is being advertised concurrently with Technician Vacancy CA-12955964-AR-26-222. Only one of the announced positions will be filled.

QualificationsNURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), GS-0610-12: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government, have at least least two years of specialized experience with understanding of the principles and concepts defined by a practical knowledge of health services activities such as, administration, managed care, human resource management, logistics management, patient administration, budgetary and fiscal management, medical manpower, medical facility management, biometrics, medical recruiting, or aeromedical evacuation and have at least 1 year of specialized experience in performing the occupational health programs. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Planning, developing, reviewing and analyzing, and maintaining a comprehensive Occupational Health Program; Experience in formulating, analyzing, revising, and implementing policies, procedures and best practices in order to accomplish program goals and objectives in accordance with Federal, State and local laws, such as, Occupational Safety Health Administration Act of 1970 - OSHA, Federal Employees Compensation Act, Department of Labor, Department of Transportation and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission statutes, and DoD guidance; Experience in determining if personnel are physically, mentally and psychologically suited for work in field operations and the industrial workplace; Experienced in managing job-related hazards, such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive hazards. Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse. Failure to upload will result in automatic disqualification for this position. Major DutiesTHIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), GS-0610-12, is to manage a comprehensive Occupational Health Program for the state. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.RequirementsCALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Priority Areas(s) of Consideration: Priority consideration is first given to the areas below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Army CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: O-3 through O-6 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs MAY BE authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation, funding, and an agency determination that a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is in the Government's best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must maintain current license as a Registered Nurse. Must maintain current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required.
