Job SummaryThis position is located in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Risk Management Agency (RMA), Office of the Administrator (OA) in Washington, DC. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Administrative Support Specialist to the Administrator. The incumbent accomplishes a variety of administrative and program duties, applying a comprehensive knowledge of administrative concepts, programs, policies, and exercising independent judgment.

Time-in-Grade Requirement: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. You must meet this requirement by the closing date of this announcement. Your application and resume must clearly show that you possess the experience requirements. If education is required or being used to qualify, you must submit a copy of your transcripts. Specialized Experience Requirement For the GS-12 grade level: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience performing and coordinating a full range of administrative specialties with professionalism and discretion to include: managing complex travel itineraries using travel planning systems such as Concur, Defense Travel System, Go.gov, Navan, Perk, etc.; Producing clear vetting reports on meeting participants for the Administrator and Chief of Staff's review; identifying and reporting any conflicts, sensitivities, or issues associated with any proposed speech mentions or meetings; Supervising day-to-day operations of the office, including monitoring calls, greeting visitors, preparing briefing documents, and ensuring all needs of the Administrator are met; and responding to first line inquiries and outgoing correspondence, ensuring alignment with the Administrator's goals and objectives and readiness for leadership signatures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major DutiesServes as the primary point of contact and ambassador for RMA, professionally engaging with government officials, industry leaders, and stakeholders.Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of personnel within the office.Serves as RMA stakeholder correspondence coordinator, ensuring correspondences are processed in a timely manner.Manages scheduling, appointments, meetings, telephone calls, and travel arrangements for the Administrator.Manages official correspondence records and ensures compliance with federal documentation policies, including submission to the National Archives.Oversees briefing materials and ensures meeting objectives are met.Acts as the focal point for all actions involving the RMA Administrator, handling sensitive and confidential assignments.Oversees scheduling, vetting meeting requests, and preparing responses on behalf of the Administrator.Ensures the accuracy of information and data provided to the Approving Official in support of purchases made with the government travel card.
