About this role
The individual will feed, water, and examine animals for signs of illness, disease, or injury sustained in the laboratory. This individual must be comfortable with handling live birds and caring for them. The applicant will collect biological data and may assist in entering data electronically and reviewing data for reports.
Avian Technician responsibilities include:
Feed, water and care for birdsWeigh, band and examine birdsAssist with egg collectionCollect biological dataAssist in drawing bloodEffectively communicate with senior staff and quality assurance representatives on the care of birds and collection of data Skills:
Computer and organizational skills are a plusExcellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable and a positive attitudeAbility to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions and comply with company policiesBasic Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. .Experience handling animals.Veterinary tech experience a plus.Computer skills and ability to enter electronic data.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs assisted.Laboratory work will include bending, walking and standing on feet to perform various types of lab duties on a daily basis.Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship. Position is temporary, full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with overtime and some weekend shifts required as needed. Position is expected to last approximately four months. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Easton, MD are encouraged to apply.
