Laboratory Technician Include but are not Limited to the Following:
The Laboratory Technician is primarily responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses under the direction of a lab supervisor or scientist including specimen management, specimen pipetting, instrument operation/maintenance, data entry and specimen storage with a high degree of proficiency. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Conducts routine tasks as directed.
Examine samples for validity and other requirements (sample type, volume, etc.)Perform sample preparation steps which may include specimen pipetting with a high degree of accuracy and precisionOperate, calibrate and maintain all assigned laboratory equipment and instruments according to standard operating procedures to ensure quality resultsPerform reagents and materials preparation for testingMaintain adequate inventory of supplies, reagents and materials needed for testingDocument remedial action, troubleshooting, quality assurance activities and instrument maintenanceAdhere to established processing timelinesPerform data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)Label samples and deliver them to proper area(s)Retrieve and re-file samples for testingProperly store specimens for short term and long term storageAid laboratory personnel in cleaning dutiesAdhere to all quality and safety standards, as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agenciesAdhere to policies and protocols in the labWork closely and communicate with other lab associates to complete daily activities efficientlyRepresent department and the organization favorably and in accordance with established Company standards and associate attributes at all timesOther duties as assigned by management Basic Minimum Work Requirements:
Minimum1 year data entry experience preferredIntermediate level of proficiency with PC based software programs, with database skillsExperience or formal training in working with potentially infectious human blood and bodily fluids preferredAbility to work with automated and manual platformsMust possess skills required for aseptic techniquesIntermediate level of proficiency with PC based software programsAbility to read, interpret, and comply with documents such as internal SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions, and company policiesPosition may require evening and weekend hoursBasic Minimum Education Qualifications:
BS or BA in Biological, Physical, or Chemical ScienceOR BS or BA degree in related science fields with 16 hours in Biology, 16 hours in Chemistry and 3 hours of MathematicsThe Ideal Candidate Possesses the Following:
