Are you interested in becoming a teacher but want to gain more experience working with children? We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled Graduate Teaching Assistant to work throughout the school.

To work under the guidance of the class teacher to support teaching and learning in the classroomTo provide general support to the class teacher in the management and organisation of the pupils and the classroomTo assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environmentTo promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and developTo be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the schoolMain Responsibilities
Support for the Pupils/ FamiliesTo deliver both whole-class and targeted academic supportSupport pupils to build resilience through a focus on developing SEMH and fostering excellent learning behavioursTo understand the barriers which can disadvantage some children and the insight and drive to overcome themTo understand the individual needs of children and be responsible for supporting the healthy development of the whole childTo promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroomEncourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage in all activitiesTo read with individual children and groups and complete reading records as directed by the class teacherTo work with small groups of children and to take responsibility for their learningTo support children with disabilities or special educational needsTo support children in mixed attainment groupings, ensuring that they understand tasks and learning objectives through adaptive teachingSupport for the Teachers
Within an agreed system of supervision, work with the teacher to develop lessons and the classroom environmentTo assess, provide feedback and record the achievements and progress of pupils through agreed monitoring systemsTo establish and maintain constructive relationships with parents/carersSupporting parental role in pupils’ learningProvide constructive feedback on pupils' progress and achievements to parentsFacilitate parental support for their child’s attendancesupport home - school community linksTo develop behaviour management strategies.To be proactive in managing behaviour and promote self-control, independence and integrationTo support pupil transitionsTo accompany teachers and classes on educational visitsTo work with the class teacher to complete administration tasks and prepare working wallsSupport for the School
To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate personTo contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the schoolTo contribute to appropriate out-of-school learning activities, which may consolidate and extend work carried out in classTo attend and participate in regular meetings, in training and other activities as requiredTo assist in the general care and maintenance of the school environmentTo assist with children at the beginning and end of the day and in the playground as requiredTo support the appraisal system for support staffWithin an agreed system of supervision, to facilitate learning during short periods of teacher absence for planned meetingsSupport for the Curriculum
Within an agreed system of supervision, deliver learning and teaching activities and adjust these when necessaryTo use knowledge organisers to pre-tutor key childrenTo use and prepare specialist equipment, plans and resources necessary to support learning activities, taking into account pupils’ interests, language and cultural backgroundsTo assist with the development of English, Maths and ICT skills and to support their use in learning activitiesTo undertake broadly similar duties commensurate with the level of the post, as required by the school
