About this role

Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School is a vibrant, thriving and leading school in the local area. (1333 on roll with a Sixth Form of 173) and our long history and excellent community links provide our students with exceptional opportunities.

We are extremely proud of our 2026 Ofsted inspection, which highlights Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School as an inclusive and respectful community where pupils feel safe, valued and supported to succeed. Inspectors described the school as “an incredibly welcoming place where all pupils feel valued” and praised the “calm and respectful environment,” noting that pupils are “enthusiastic participants in lessons and school life,” benefiting from high expectations rooted in our values of respect, believe and achieve. The report also recognises the quality of teaching, stating that “teachers have a clear understanding of the skills and knowledge that pupils need” and that “staff use their subject knowledge well to adapt tasks so that all pupils… can participate in lessons.”

Inspectors highlighted our strong commitment to inclusion, noting that leaders have created “a highly inclusive culture where pupils are well known, cared for and supported,” alongside a well‑planned curriculum and a broad personal development programme that prepares pupils for life beyond school. Leadership was commended for maintaining strong standards in behaviour and attendance and for driving improvement, while our Catholic ethos continues to underpin the strong sense of community identified in both this inspection and our 2023 CSI report, which described the school’s valued “sense of family.”
