About this role

The role

The CPSA Lead is responsible for the academic leadership, design, delivery, and quality assurance of the Year 4 Clinical and Professional Skills Assessment (CPSA) for the MBChB programme.

What will you be doing?

You will lead the design, delivery, and quality of the Year 4 Clinical and Professional Skills Assessment (CPSA), a key part of how we prepare future doctors for practice.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will shape a large-scale clinical assessment delivered across multiple sites. You’ll ensure the CPSA is fair, consistent, and aligned with national standards, while supporting student learning through high-quality feedback.

Working with a supportive, multidisciplinary team, you will:

Design and update the assessment, including creating and reviewing clinical stations Oversee delivery of the CPSA across all sittings and locations Lead training for examiners and simulated patients Support students through clear guidance, briefings, and preparation resources Monitor quality and outcomes, working with data and feedback to improve the assessment Manage any issues, complaints, or incidents professionally and fairly Work with external examiners and contribute to exam boards

You’ll play a central role in ensuring students are assessed in a way that is robust, inclusive, and supports their progression into clinical practice.

You should apply if

Experience with clinical or OSCE-style assessments in medical education Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage complex delivery across sites Confidence in designing assessments and supporting quality assurance processes The ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with students, colleagues, and external partners A commitment to fairness, inclusion, and high standards in education

You must hold a primary medical qualification and be eligible for GMC registration. Experience in assessment leadership, examiner training, or working with assessment data would be an advantage.
