About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Lee Lab at the University of Dundee.

The Lee Lab investigates the molecular basis of drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum, the human malaria parasite, working to uncover the mechanisms that allow the parasite to evade treatment. Using cutting-edge molecular genetics tools, including CRISPR/Cas approaches, the lab identifies new therapeutic targets and develops platforms to profile antimalarial compounds and their resistance profiles. As members of the Gates Foundation-funded Malaria Drug Accelerator (MalDA) Consortium, the lab collaborates internationally to accelerate the discovery of the next generation of antimalarial drugs.

An opportunity is available for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Lee team, supporting our work to identify the mode-of-action of antimalarial compounds. The role spans both experimental and computational work, including validating and running drug profiling assays using barcoded Plasmodium parasite libraries, automated liquid handling, and next-generation sequencing, as well as constructing new transgenic parasite lines by CRISPR editing and providing bioinformatics support across the team. The successful candidate will communicate effectively with a range of internal and external collaborators, including MalDA consortium members. The ideal candidate will have experience in parasite culture and genetic manipulation, a strong molecular biology background, and expertise in genomics data analysis and database management. Excellent communication and organisational skills, and an enjoyment of collaborative working, are essential.
