This is an exciting opportunity to work within a friendly team to support the Neuropsychiatry services.
Please note the earliest start date for this position is 7th September 2026.
Main duties of the job
A Neuropsychiatry Support Worker provides practical, emotional, and clinical support to individuals living with neuropsychiatric conditions, helping them maintain independence, wellbeing, and social inclusion. The role involves working directly with service users in their homes, supporting families and carers, and collaborating with professionals to ensure safe, coordinated care.
The postholder offers one to one community based support, assists people to access health, social care, and community services, and uses social prescribing approaches to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce isolation. They contribute to clinical care by carrying out cognitive assessments, physical observations, ECGs, and by using tools such as the Older Peoples Thrive Menu to support personalised treatment planning.
A key part of the role is liaising with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure risks are identified and managed appropriately.

To support service users referred to the Neuropsychiatry Service as well as their family/carers
To provide one-to-one support in the home to people who have neuropsychiatric conditions
To support people to access services
To liaise with the family, relevant professionals and Neuropsychiatry Service Lead to ensure risk measures are indicated and managed
Support and encourage volunteer feedback and conduct satisfactions survey to maintain quality measures
Support and encourage service user/family/carer feedback and conduct satisfactory surveys to maintain quality measures
Carry out cognitive functioning tests, ECG's and blood tests
Utilise Older Peoples thrive menu to facilitate treatment plans
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Social/Health care qualifications (including NVQ level 3 Care, Promoting independent Living) or equivalent
Desirable
Training in Mental Health Awareness, dementia, Health & Safety and any other relevant training for this post Managing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia
Knowledge & Understanding Essential
Accepts responsibility for own workload. Recognises the limits of own authority within the role Seeks and uses professional support appropriately Understands the principles of confidentiality
Desirable

Experience Essential
Experience of working with older people and/or people with neuropsychiatric conditions and/or dementia Work experience in Social/Health care . Experience of liaising with other services, GP, adult social care.

Experience in providing support to the community Experience in working with people with mental health needs
