Job summary

Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) ENT Department currently has a vacancy for a 10 PA Consultant post. This is a new post created to support the increasing local population and demand for ENT services.

The post holder will join a team of 5 Consultants and provide general adult and paediatric ENT Surgery with a subspecialty interest in Otology. The objective of the ENT department is to support MKUH NHS Trust in becoming one of the best health care Trusts in the country. We are focused on providing high-quality patient experience and being an excellent place to work for all staff, believing that improving patient and staff experience will assist in producing a high quality, efficient and patient centered service.

The post holder will be required to work at MKUH main hospital site.

Main duties of the job

A 10 PA job plan with a flexible working structure, supporting professional activities, and a strong commitment to education, research, and clinical governance. You'll be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, audit and service development initiatives, and provide high-quality patient care.

This post will have a combination of Theatre and Outpatient clinics sessions throughout the job plan. The post holder will be included on a 1 in 5 three-tier on-call rota; supporting the non-resident middle-grade and resident doctor. ENT is a 24/7 service. The on call is a category A and you will receive a 5% on call supplement.

Relevant capabilities should be clearly demonstrated on the list of surgical experience/procedures. Candidates will be considered for interview if they have a UK CCT/peri-CCT, are on the UK specialist register.

Person Specification

Qual Essential

Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Otorhinolaryngology

Teaching Essential

Evident to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors within the GMC

Desirable

A proven background in organising and delivering undergraduate and post graduate teaching and research with evidence of training for the role

Knowledge Essential

Wide experience of general otolaryngology Sub-specialist up to date knowledge in adult and paediatric Otology

Clinical Experience / Training Essential

Proven training, experience, interest in and ability to operate independently in Tympanomastoid surgery, Adult and Paediatric Otology Experience in the multidisciplinary management of adults and children in ENT and Audiology Evidence of commitment to further post-graduate education and continuous professional development

Desirable

Fellowship in Otology Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Educational Supervisor for Trainee doctors within the GMC Previous locum Consultant experience
