About this role

Job summary

Applications are invited for the role of Clinical Teaching Fellow (Core) for a period of 12 months commencing on 05 August 2026.

This is a new and exciting role for suitably qualified doctors who will be key in the development, delivery and quality assurance of core curriculum teaching for the University of Cambridge Medical students placed at CUH/Addenbrooke's Hospital.

You will work in collaboration with a named educational supervisor in your department, the Clinical Sub-dean for medical students as well as the Director of Medical Education (DME) and other postgraduate doctors to support a learning culture, implement educational initiatives and provide peer support.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a team of CUH doctors in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who will support the delivery of undergraduate/ medical education within the organisation as well as clinical service (50:50 education/clinical split with monthly rotation of duties). The role provides an opportunity for you to develop as a clinical educator while contributing to high-quality teaching and supporting learner development.

In order to be considered applicants must meet the following essential criteria; completion of UK based Foundation programme and competencies and a minimum of 4-6 months in surgery in the NHS Evidence of participation in educational activities relating to medical students will be required.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Person Specification

Experience Essential

Completion of a UK-based Foundation programme and Foundation Competencies Evidence of interest and participation in educational activities relating to medical students Logbook indicating validated experience of appropriate range and number of clinical procedures. Completed a minimum of four to six months in surgery in the NHS

Desirable

Completed a minimum of four to six months experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the NHS Experience of clinical supervisor role to medical students or previous teaching experience Experience of being an undergraduate tutor

Qualifications Essential

ALS course Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council MBBS or equivalent

Desirable

MRCOG part 1 PG Cert in medical education

Skills Essential

Basic surgical skills and patient care (surgery specific) Competence in pre-operative and post-operative management of general surgical patients (surgery specific)

Desirable

Experience of using an electronic patient record system
